Dr Williams O. Balogun, FWACP, Consultant Endocrinologist/Physician.
Williams Onabumeh Balogun, MBBS (Ibadan), MSc. (Ibadan), FWACP is a fellow of West African College of Physicians. He is a Lecturer and Researcher at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, a medical teacher of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate resident doctors, and Consultant Physician / Endocrinologist to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Nigeria.
He is a resource person with the West African College of Physicians. He is a member of Nigerian Society of Endocrinology (NSEM), Diabetes Association of Nigeria (DAN), British Society for Endocrinology (SfE) and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE).
Dr. Balogun is the founding Editor in Chief of Annals of Ibadan Postgraduate Medicine, published bi-annually by the resident doctors association in UCH as well as a peer reviewer of other medical journals. He has published in local and international journals and currently Secretary General of the Nigerian chapter of AACE. He is one of the founding co-Investigators of the SIDCAIN Research Team.
His area of research focus is preventive diabetology including diabetic vascular disease. One of his notable ongoing research activities include efforts with other SIDCAIN research team members to pilot strategies in Ogun and Oyo South-Western states of Nigeria (funded by WDF) towards raising awareness about NCDs and improving diabetes care.
He has been a recipient of training fellowship awards including IDF (International Diabetes Federation) Durban, South Africa 2008, International Society of Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention (Oxford, 2008) and Association of Physicians of Great Britain & Ireland fellowship grant for developing country (Manchester & Dundee, 2010).
