Dr Kolawole B.

Dr Babtope Kolawole, FWACP, Consultant Endocrinologist/Physician.

Babatope Kolawole graduated from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 1989. He joined the University Teaching Hospital in 1992 as a resident soon after completing his mandatory one year of national service. He successfully completed his training as an Endocrinologist in 1999 and joined the Faculty at Ife as Lecturer 1. He was promoted senior lecturer in October 2003. He has been the recipient of several international awards including the World Diabetes Foundation/International Diabetes Federation Training Fellowship to visit the Department of Endocrinology, Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, UKZN, Durban, South Africa (April 2006) and the International Exchange Fellowship of the American College of Physicians to visit the Diabetes and Endocrinology Unit of the Monmouth Medical Centre, Long Branch NJ, USA (May 2008)
His main research interest is in Clinical Endocrinology with a bias for diabetology and thyroidology. He also has a secondary interest in malaria research.
He is a faculty member in the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University since 1999 and promoted to a Senior Lecturer in 2003. He is fully involved in the supervision of undergraduate and post graduate students.

Grants Awarded:

1, Obafemi Awolowo University research grant to study the impact of high caloric fibre diet in the management of type2 Nigerian diabetics, 2002.
2, Obafemi Awolowo University research grant to study the influence of chemotherapy on thyroid ultrasound size in patients with Graves disease, 2003.
