A new London stage production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol begins the holiday month at The Park Theater with filmed screenings of the play on 1st and 4th December.
Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Dracula, Doctor Who) stars as Jacob Marley in his own retelling of Dickens’ classic Winter Ghost story, A Christmas Carol, alongside Nicholas Farrell (Chariots of Fire, The Crown, The Iron Lady) as Scrooge. This powerful story of life, love, loss and redemption is as relevant today as it was 179 years ago when it was first published.
A UK Nottingham Playhouse production, filmed live for cinemas at London’s magnificent Alexandra Palace Theater and filled with chilling, Dickensian special effects.
Prepare to be shocked and delighted in equal measure when you enter the supernatural Victorian world of A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story on the big screen. It’s a cold Christmas Eve and mean miser Ebenezer Scrooge (Nicholas Farrell) gets an unexpected visit from the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley (Mark Gatiss). Bound in chains as punishment for a lifetime of greed, the sinister figure explains that it’s not too late for Scrooge to change his stingy ways to escape the same fate, but first he must face three more sinister encounters.
“There is no better way to begin our holiday offering of entertainment than with special screenings of this magnificent new stage production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. It’s a magical event for all ages,” said Steve Jackson, CEO and Managing Director of Park Theater.
The Stage2Screen special film will be shown on Thursday, December 1 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 4 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. It will be shown in The Park’s Eppes Auditorium, which features a 333-seat, 27-foot wide screen and 17-speaker ULTRA surround sound. Tickets cost $15. Tickets for children under 16 are $10. They can be purchased online at theparktheatre.org or by calling the box office at (603) 532-8888.
