Pennsylvania Super Mom, chosen through a Tik Tok contest, becomes Wonder Of The Seas’ godmother

Royal Caribbean International’s search for a Wonder Mom and Godmother to Wonder of the Seas is complete. Pennsylvania resident Marie McCrea, who was nominated for the #SearchforWonderMom TikTok contest by her daughter Allie, has been chosen to fill the venerable role for the newest ship in the Oasis class.

As a devoted mother, wife, and cancer survivor, Marie has overcome adversity with incredible strength, and at the heart of her story are the memories she has been inspired and made with her family through it all. She will accept the honor of blessing Wonder during a celebratory naming ceremony on December 9, 2022 at her first year-round homeport, Port Canaveral, Florida.

“Finding such an inspirational mother to embody the spirit of Wonder of the Seas has not been easy. Marie and her family have an encouraging and empowering story that has made us cry, cheer and hope, while inspiring wonder and adventure in those around them,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “I want to thank everyone who nominated Wonder Moms in their own lives. More than 16,000 videos were created and I was amazed by all the incredible stories of the everyday heroes who inspire their surroundings to explore, marvel and remember.”

As part of a long-standing maritime tradition, Marie’s blessing as godmother will bestow safe keeping on the Wonder, her crew and the millions of families who will create holiday memories on board for years to come. Marie and her family have adventure after adventure aboard Wonder, beginning with an exclusive invitation-only naming ceremony cruise visiting Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

You’ll also enjoy an epic 7-night Caribbean cruise and stay in a home away from home worthy of the godmother of the new family vacation, the one-of-a-kind Ultimate Family Suite, which features an in-suite slide, a cinema and karaoke room, game consoles, a private balcony and more. Plus, they have five-star hotel accommodation, first-class flights and pocket money to round off an unforgettable family vacation.

“It is a tremendous honor to be selected from among all the incredible nominees and I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve as Godmother for Wonder of the Seas,” said Marie McCrea.

The widespread search for the ultimate Wonder Mom on TikTok saw more than 16,000 videos submitted as part of 10.6 billion views of the #SeachforWonderMom hashtag. A Royal Caribbean panel of judges reviewed the best entries, and from those compelling stories, Marie was selected for the honor. The cruise line also invited the Wonder Moms, who were finalists, to sail Wonder with their families to honor their inspiring journeys and the lifelong memories they created with loved ones.

Today’s unveiling of Wonder’s Godmother follows the first arrival of the world’s largest cruise ship in Port Canaveral on Sunday November 13th. Royal Caribbean’s newest ship in the line of revolutionary Oasis-class ships is poised to spark memories and fan favorites across eight unique neighborhoods with a thoughtful combination of new adventures. Highlights include Suite Neighborhood, the new neighborhood that welcomes Royal Suite Class guests to an upscale experience, and Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar, serving brunch, dinner and late night classics and Southern favourites served, along with live performances of country music and more.

Also on deck are more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges, as well as recurring experiences like The Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea; the surf simulator FlowRider; Climbing Walls, The Perfect Storm racing waterslides, newly designed areas just for kids and teens; and original entertainment on four “stages”: air, ice, water and theater.
